World Social Work Day 2020

We will be hosting a number of events across the county for World Social Work Day on Tuesday 17th March 2020.

The theme for this year is social work relationships, and in the Teaching Partnership we are focusing on global social work relationships.

We are looking for social workers who would like to share their experience of best practice abroad and how this has shaped your practice. If you would like to share your stories with colleagues at any of our events, please do get in touch.

Winter Social Work Seminar With Mark Harvey

This was the third seasonal social work seminar hosted by the Hertfordshire Social Work Teaching Partnership.

Joint Chief of Social Work Mark Harvey, who will be talked to members of the Hertfordshire Social Work Teaching Partnership about his new role with the Department for Health and Social Care, and its impact on Hertfordshire social work. Joining him were Claudia Megele, Prinicpal Social Worker for Children's Services and Prof. Brian Littlechild, University of Hertfordshire.

Autumn Social Work Seminar - How can we better support our service users in the LGBT+ community?

This is the second seasonal social work seminar hosted by the Hertfordshire Social Work Teaching Partnership.

In this free seminar, we will be focusing on the growing need for greater support of LGBT+ service users. This seminar will explore gender identity and the impact on mental health, real life experience from an LGBT+ young person and their experience with social workers, and how the University of Hertfordshire Student's Union are working to embed an LGBT+ focus into the social work curriculum.

Our keynote presentation will be from Anastassis Spiliadis, Highly Specialist Systemic & Family Psychotherapist from the Gender Identity Clinic (GID) at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and Jasmin Payne, Senior Youth Support Worker, from YC Herts.
